Red Rocks Exertion

Morrison, Colorado 80465

In the foothills nearby Denver is a Colorado treasure known around the world as the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater. This natural amphitheater has perfect acoustics and is surrounded by towering red rocks on either side. The venue itself is famous for it's uniqueness and for the many stars who have performed there.

Icons of Red Rocks

The earliest and most famous band was a bunch of mop haired British guys called The Beatles. Our big names are Jethro Tull, John Denver, Sonny & Cher, The Carpenters, Seals & Crofts and Carole King. Over the years many more notables have played and recorded at Red Rocks.

The Venue is More Than a Stage!

Unlike most places where performers shine, this venue is open to the public when there isn't a show. It isn't surprising to know many tourist coming to town make Red Rocks Amphitheater a destination.

The locals have found another positive use for this venue, unlikely as it may seem it's a huge outdoor gym! At a altitude of 6200 feet, this place is a challenge for most ordinary people to just walk up the stairs. Of course there are the ones (see photos) who take the challenge and use it to train their muscles and lungs!

Last year, my daughter who is a regular patron of the Red Rocks Fitness group (named changed at request of city to It Burns Joe Fitness (click on this one if only for the great music!)), invited me just to come and watch. Thankfully that's all I could do! The session is very challenging and most of the participants really seem to dig in and push their bodies. I found watching was exhilarating enough for me!

I found the experience very interesting, a variety of groups were present taking advantage of the spectacular location, the lovely weather and of course the treacherous stairs. Note how they don't WALK up and down, they crawl!
