Last September, I took a few days to travel around Colorado and enjoy the changing colors of fall.
One morning, shortly after sunrise, I stopped to take a picture of this grassy area on the north rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison where the play of light and shadow across the grass caught my attention. Just as I got set up, the "photo gods" smiled on me and I saw these two coyotes trotting across the field, just out beyond the trees.
It is always so fascinating to see wild animals in their element and especially when they are completely unaware of your presence. This pair was probably returning to their den after a night of hunting.
It was a beautiful morning during my favorite time of year and I felt very fortunate to capture this rare sight.
