This is it...the last weekend of the 2009 Colorado Springs Parade of Homes tour, and last Saturday, the hubs and I chose to only pop in on one property. The address intrigued me, the architectural rendering and name, Mountain Elegance given by the builder/owner/tour guidebook made me want to visit...
now, you will want to see it for yourself!

This home has been purchased and decorated by the owners, and they graciously allowed the tour, for the builder to showcase their work.
The extraordinary details in this almost 10,500 sq. ft. home are evident in every room, starting at the entry. There is the feeling you have entered the grand hall of a hunting lodge when greeted by the "trophy mountain" as it is described. This is not the full collection of animals on display, they are tucked in nooks, and displayed in settings in several spots of the home. In the bottom left, there is a small pond, with a raccoon "fishing".
The very specific animal theme is carried out in most every room, from mosaic tile sea life on the bottom of the pool to the bear paw prints leading to the master bathtub! The top middle photo is an exception, this is the pantry, which was as beautiful as a kitchen!

A few unexpected touches that I have chosen to feature, are the muraled ceiling in the dining room, a softer, more feminine touch than seen elsewhere, the secret staircase behind the sliding bookcase, ( the staircase leads to a private office of over 300 sq. ft. and is completely hidden with the bookcase closed!) and the camouflage carpet in a room with a hammock...for dreaming of the next hunting trip?
There are so many things to see, I just wanted to "tempt" my Colorado Springs readers to get out, and tour some Parade homes this weekend, because this is it! 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. through August 23rd.
Over the past 2 weeks, I have featured something from almost all of custom homes that allowed photos, on the tour. There are 29 homes total, (1 in Cripple Creek!) and 10 of them are custom build, the remainder are models.
