The $8,000 tax credit extension passed the Senate yesterday 98-0, and int the House of Representatives 403-12. All we need now is the President's signature and the program will be extened to April 30, 2010.
Some important changes were made to the bill as well. For example:
* The income limits were raised
$75,000 to $125,000 for single buyers
$150,000 to $225,000 for married buyers
* Homes do not have to close prior to the credit expiring.
If a home is under contract prior to 4/30/10, it must close prior to 7/1/10
* This program provides a tax credit to current home owners who purchase a new home
$6500, if the home sold was a primary residence for 5 of last 8 years
