I listen to NPR on the weekends. A while back short program came on the air talking about words and phrases that are disappearing from the American language. One of those phrases was ‘goat rope.' The definition the program gave of ‘goat rope' was something out of control; a goat rope is like herding cats or turkeys. The internet has many more definitions.
Recently, I had an ongoing conversation via email with somebody who told me that they were unaware of anybody being under water or upside down in their house. Really? It's in the air!
This conversation makes me wonder if Realtors, mortgage lenders and the like are presenting a clear message about the current condition of the real estate market. OH WAIT! Is there a clear message?
There are so many facts being presented to the world right now it's hard to keep up. And about the time I think I have the market and rules figured out it all changes! The mortgage rules, government over sights and mandates, local laws, all changing.
During my Sales and Foreclosure Resource (SFR) class I realized that it's hard to nail down the facts. The instructor presented methods and ways to help keep people in their homes only to be contradicted by 120 members of the class who had recent hands on experience in the matter of foreclosures and short sales.
So where is a person to turn? In my opinion you still turn to the people who have the most experience in the field of selling property. Turn to your local real estate professional. We may not have all the answers, but we still have the most up to date information and best resources to help a property owner keep their property.
A homeowner trying to do it themselves is like somebody trying herd goats; it's going to be difficult!
