Cordillera- Colorado Paradise - Golf and Luxury Mountain living

The courses at Cordillera include four of the most scenic and unique courses you will find anywhere, the mountain and high desert include:

The Summit, Mountain, Valley and Short Courses which represent golf at its finest, providing the most balanced, challenging, and enjoyable mountain golf in the world. Situated on widely varying terrains that range in altitude from 7,150 feet on the valley floor to 9,200 feet at Cordillera's Summit, these courses and the homes that surround them, are a reflection of some the greatest course and home designers at work today.

The Summit Course, which is open from June through September is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Design crafted on 190 mountaintop acres at 9,000 feet. The Summit Course is an 18-hole, 7,530-yard par-72 with stunning views of the Rockies. Nicklaus was able to create additional open space to protect the community's natural beauty and improve hiking and recreational access to three million acres of the neighboring White River National Forest.

The Valley Coursedesigned by Tom Fazio is a 7,005 yards, par 71, with an elevation of 7,200 feet, because of its lower elevation and southwestern exposure it has a much longer playing season than the other three courses. The Valley Course is open from April to October

I have been a fan of Dave Pelz Short Game Bible and had the opportunity a couple years ago to attend a wedding at The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera, I had a couple hours to kill, so my wife and I took a stroll around the short game course which I have read so much about, it was early May and the course was not yet open for play yet as its season is from June through September. The Dave Pelz designed, 10 hole Short Courseis 1,252 yards, par 27, and at an elevation of 7,800 feet is only one of two such courses in the world, while walking around the course you get the feeling you are on top of the world, you could literally turn in the opposite direction on several of the tees, pull out your driver and hit the ball 2500 yards off the side of a mountain back toward the Vail Valley below, I would not recommend it though. Each hole is less than 130 yards, but features challenging shots and tight bunkering. Golf: Mountain Course 7,413 yards, par 72, elevation 8,250 feet

The Mountain Course, A Hale Irwin Signature Design is simply breathtaking. Capturing the feel of the landscape was especially important to Hale Irwin, who grew up in Colorado. The three-time U.S. Open champion was committed to preserving the area's inherent natural qualities, while creating an extraordinary course. Formerly a working ranch, the land spans ridges, meadows and forests, which bring into play a variety of challenges.

Cordillera real estate is some of the most beautiful anywhere, there are currently 65 homes and lots for sale in the area ranging from a $114K 2 acre lot to a $5.9M 10,000 square foot villa with some of the best views in the world
