One Couple - 18+ Cities in 2 Days and I could not be happier-This past weekend my wife and I had the pleasure of giving a two day tour around Denver to a new referral that is relocating form California. It was more a mission to see different areas of Denver so that the young couple could make the decision whether or not Denver makes sense for them. Our hope was to make the trip worthwhile and that their agent made a good choice in selecting us to help their clients relocate.
I have lived in and around the Denver metro area all of my life (accept for my in state college years). I grew up in the north end of town, moved to the western suburbs in my twenties, moved to the mountains in near southwest Denver in my erly thirties, owned a business in the northeast, managed another in the south metro area, managed two others in the southeast and was a sales rep covering the entire state, and have lived in the southern suburbs for the past 19 years. I feel like I know the area better than most. My wife has been in the city since 1973, and has lived along the south metro suburbs ever since.
As we began the tour, which was not only a mission to get familiar with areas and neighborhoods, but also to view several houses over the two day tour. I have been in real estate for the past 12 years and have shown thousands of houses, but almost every single client had some idea of what type of home and what area of Denver they wanted to live. I thoroughly enjoyed putting these two days together, it is amazing how strategic you need to be to set showings over 8 hours and leave plenty of time to view new construction communities as well as driving through the different cities to show off the features to help our perspective new buyers make a decision.
I can not tell you how many homes we looked at or how many miles we covered, but we did got through at least 18 cities and the buyers came to the realization that what they really needed in a house was not what they had initially envisioned, apparently in California, basements are a rarity, so when we suggested they take a look at some ranches instead of just two stories, they were ecstatic with what they found, it was exactly what they needed and was at a price that was even less than they were planning. I believe it was a real Win-Win, when a couple you just met the day before gives you a big hug and a thank you upon parting the second day, you get warm all over, this is why we do what we do, helping people find what they are really looking for even when they do not know what that may be. We got a call the next from our new buyers and they said that they were very excited with the tour and what they saw and are moving ahead with their plans to relocate to the area. My wife and I are as excited as they are.
