Singles Could Represent a Big Slice of Denver Home Buyer Pie

Single Denver HomeownersMany people think home ownership is primarily for couples or families, but the National Association of Realtors recently reported that singles have become a major force in the real estate market. Their research showed that last year unmarried women made up 20% of all home buyers, and single men accounted for 12% - a total of 32% of homebuyers that were single! When it comes to single women, the Joint Center for Housing Studies says their main reasons for buying homes are to relocate closer to a job or family, to get more space, and to be able to nest in surroundings they control.

If you're thinking about selling your Denver home, this is great news for you. Talk with your realtor about the qualities you think would make your home perfect for an unmarried buyer. Tips for single Denver homebuyers would be to think about what you really want out of a home - what kind of lifestyle do you want to have, what kind of activities do you like, and how much maintenance are you willing to perform on your home? Houses, condos, lofts, townhouses, and patio homes all have unique features that might appeal specifically to you.

Be sure to keep your future in mind, too. If you do think you'll be getting married and raising a family, will you want a home you can share or one you can sell easily? If you're a confirmed bachelor or bachelorette, be sure to look down the road at whether you'll be able to take care of your home by yourself or if you'll need to set aside extra money for landscaping and other household chores.
