Summit County is a great place for not only the ski condo at the base of the mountain but also for the magnificent summer home. Even if you don't like cold weather and winter activities, don't rule out Colorado's Rocky Mountains for your vacation home just yet.
Summit County includes the communities of Breckenridge, Dillon, Keystone, Frisco and Silverthorne as well as Copper Mountain and A Basin ski areas. These areas are most commonly known for their world class ski resorts and are often overlooked by those that don't take part in cold weather activities.
Summers in the county are beautiful! A hot day is in the 80's with night time temperatures dropping into the 50's. It's great weather for hiking the vast National Forests, sailing on Lake Dillon, or biking down mountain trails or paved bike paths that criss-cross the community. Summit County is a great place to escape the heat and humidity found across the country all summer long.

Consider purchasing a condo at the base of Copper Mountain. During the summer you can stay at your condo and take advantage of all of the summer fun happening at Copper Mountain and all over the county without the crowds you might find elsewhere. Winters you go back to your primary residence and rent out your ski condo to those not fortunate enough to own. Winter is prime rental season here. You can enjoy your second home in the summer and have the skiers and snowboarders help you pay for it all winter.
Still unsure about Colorado summers? Come for a visit. Do some hiking, fly fishing, gold panning and sailing. Find out what the locals already know; Summit County's a great place to be!

You have it right Meredith! Summit County is an awesome place in the summer. No air conditioning needed...ours is all natural!
Merideth - This is a terrific post but it should be in Localism not in a professional group such as newbies and Realtors groups. You want this type of post in the localism section which will be seen by consumers. If you did not sign up for the localism group you should. Hope this helps :)
Joanne - Natural is the best kind of air conditioning!
Thanks Bill! I did post it to localism (that's my public, regional info, right?) but thought it is better to post it as many places as possible. Is that the wrong line of thought?
Summer in Summit County is awesome. Endless hiking and biking trails. Lake Dillon is also known for being one of the best mountain lakes for sailing in the U.S.. Events and activities are endless from concerts to car shows to some of the best bar-b-q cook offs in colorado, they go on in the county all summer long.
Jason - Because this area is known mostly for it's winter activites the towns and resort areas try really hard to get people out here in the summer too. They plan a lot of activities like the car shows etc. to draw them out. Just an added perk for people like us that are already here!
