What a sad day it is when the neighbor across the way calls to say that the horses are all a mess because a pony was sold today. My four and her three horses are all down in the pasture running about and calling. I don't know how many of you Active Rainers have horses or are interested in Equine issues. I had to share because the distressed cries of horses echoing in the valley is a sound which touches the heart.
Today the prairie wind carries their calls for a good two miles. I can't help but feel sorry for their loss even though for the horses it is about other issues. Issues like who will stand on the outside to block the wind and now who will eat first and last and which one of them can run the fastest.
I have posted a picture of my 30 year old mare, Fancy. She deserves to go national after making it through another winter.
Now she can stand in the afternoon spring sun with a full belly and all of her own herd nearby and intact.
