Home Depot in Summit County Colorado?
For months and even years Summit County Colorado residences have heard a rummer that Home Depot was coming to town. First we heard they bought a parcel of land off of the I-70 next to the Blue River. Then that was down played as an investmentby a subsidiary. Now we can confirm Home Depot is coming.
Home Depot submitted a formal application to the Town of Silverthorne on Wednesday to build a 100,000-square-foot store on South Adams Avenue
Most of the development packet was turned into Silverthorne's planning department on Wednesday; however, some issues surrounding wetlands mitigation.
Silverthorne town manager Kevin Batchelder said the town has 10 days to review the application for completion and respond to developers.
The retail chain purchased two vacant lots totaling 9.7 acres in September and, last month, confirmed its intention to build a big box on the site, which is located along the Blue River between the CDOT maintenance property and Interstate 70.
Home Depot is a use-by-right on the land, which is already zoned commercial.
A third lot across Adams Avenue, which is used to store heavy equipment, will eventually be commercially developed as well although no tenants have been determined, Ciletti said.
The proposed size of the home improvement store would be slightly scaled back from a Home Depot in a metro area, and would measure a bit smaller than the Target, which is about 118,000 square feet. The plans call for the storefront to face Interstate 70 and the building's back to border CDOT's property.
The design will be similar to what was proposed in Frisco two years ago with neutral colors and timber and stone accents. No Orange except for the sign.
I for one am glad being a resident of Silverthorne It is exciting to see us continue to grow and have access to big city amenities but still have that mountain small town feel.

Wow you guys are hitting the big time getting a Home Depot. I have not been up that way in years but if you are getting a Home Depot I expect I would not even recognize the place. Glad they are keeping the small town feel though.
Great info.! The big companies don't need to be in every town. Why not a Home Depot on the beach too!

Thanks for the comments Guy's
Marchel how long has it been. If it has been more than 10 years your right you would not even recognize it.
Jess I agree however when you have to drive 45 minutes to an hour to get something you need it is a real bummer. I lived by the beach in So cal and I can tell you they were not more than 10 to 15 minuets from the beach.
They did put it in a great spot tucked away from residential, you should be only able to see the front of it from the freeway.
We moved from Westminster back in 1994 so it has been more than 10 years. We still have family in the area (now actually Elizabeth) so come back often but have not made it up your way in all that time.
