The Mystery Of The Missing Tank At The Branford Armory

My office is located a few hundred feet from the Branford Armory where on its corner stands a U.S. Army tank.  This tank has been there for the past 30 years placed there as part of the Town of Branford's Korean War Veteran's Memorial.

I drive by it every time I go to the office so what a surprise it was to me when sometime in early August I noticed that the place where the tank stood was completely empty.   The tank was missing and I had not seen or heard anything on the news about where it had gone.

With the tank removed from the front of the Branford Armory it was so sad and just wasn't the same driving by that corner and not see it standing there and not knowing where it had gone.

As I later found out the National Guard had taken the tank away to Camp Niantic for permanent display but after realizing how important the presence of this tank meant to the veterans and people of Branford the decision was made to make some restorations to the tank and return it.

So on September 16th the tank which is a 1962 M114 Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle was finally brought back to it's rightful place.
