With lots of land by preserved (either owned by Danbury for Tarrywille Park, the Terre Haute Preserve, the Bethel reservoir or under private ownership with the Public Act 490), the neighborhood has the feel of Vermont with the affordability of Danbury and low taxes. An interesting neighborhood in the Long Ridge section is Lake Waubeeka, a private gated community of just over 200 homes with it's own lake & acres of preserved open space.
