There are several reasons to consider why to move to Danbury.
9) Danbury is a great area for commuting. I-84 runs straight through town with 8 highway exits, so there is easy access for almost all neighborhoods. I-684 is located 10 minutes from the center of town, leading toward Westchester & New York. Route 7 provides access to towns in lower Fairfield County.
8)There are two golf courses in town. Richter Park consistently ranks as one of the top 50 public courses in country. Ridgewood County Club is a sought after private community only minutes away from downtown.
7) There are major corporations located in town so that commuting toward NY & lower Fairfield County isn’t your only option. Major employers in town include Cartus, Boehringer Ingelheim, GE Capital, and Praxair.
6)There are a number of parks in Danbury. Tarrywile Park is has over 700 acres of preserved open space and over 15 miles of hiking trails. Bear Mountain Park in northern Danbury offers of the best views of Candlewood Lake. Other town parks include Hatters Park and Rogers Park.
5) Danbury is a shoppers and diners delight. Not only is there the big chain stores and restaurants in town, such as Dick’s sporting goods, Best Buy, Applebees, Chillis, Walmart, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Olive Garden and Toys R Us, there are many locally owned stores and eateries. You shouldn’t have to leave town for really anything, other than Costco which is located just beyond the town line in Brookfield.
4)Danbury does offer some of the most affordable property taxes in the tri state area. The property taxes in Danbury does include funding for the public schools, public safety, library and more. Expect to pay around $5300 a year for a home listed around $420,000, $4200 for a condo listed around $325,000, $2500 for a condo around $250,000 and $12,000 for a luxury home in the high $700,000s. Please contact me for any property specific tax information.
3) There is a wide variety of housing options for almost every budget and property type. There are traditional well established neighborhoods, luxury townhomes, smaller homes on low maintenance lots, luxury homes on 1+ acre lots, apartments and water communities. Prices for condos range from $50,000 to $700,000. Single family homes typically run for $150,000 to $1,500,000.
2)There are a number of lakes in Danbury. Candlewood Lake is the main attraction with over 60 miles of coastline found along 5 different towns. There is a public beach located just beyond the intersection of East Hayestown Road and Hayestown Road. Other lakes in Danbury include Lake Waubeeka and Lake Kenosia. In addition, there a number of local reservoirs provide a scenic environment.
1)Most cities of this size do not offer as many amenities as Danbury does. On top of what I have already mentioned, there is a state university, one of the largest malls in Northeast, municipal airport, museums and a 400 bed hospital. For a city of almost 80,0000, it does not feel that congested or overwhelming.
