I know we are all feeling our blood pressure rise each time we grip the gas pump and fill up So what can you do to make the most of the summer in Milford, CT and keep the whole family active and happy??

Besides enjoying the beauty of Milford beaches there are a number of great events going on throughout the summer that will give you plenty of summer fun and not drain your car's gas tank.

Enjoy classes offered through Milford Coastal Audoban such as kayaking and canoeing. They even offer a wide variety of summer camps for kids.

In addition, growing interest in Milford's walking and biking trails has lead to a new and improved website and guide book that is downloadable from the Environmental Concerns Coalition in Milford. Here you can also find out about Milford's many local farm markets and savor the rich tastes of local produce.

If you want something in a more artistic vein, Milford offers a variety of artist's exhibits and competitions, such as the annual Sand Castle Contest during the Walnut Beach Arts Festival on August 3.

For a great family day, be sure to circle July 26 on your calendar and take part in Woodmont Day . There will be a children's parade at the festival with a Woodmont Olympics theme. Afterwards, be sure to stick around and enjoy the free concert that evening under star lit skies overlooking Long Island Sound.

Looking to kick your heels up this summer?? Tango classes are being offered through the Milford Fine Arts Council as well as a variety of music classes. Want to just sit back? You can listen to local musicians perform classical guitar or mellow out to jazz.

Then there is Milford's annual Oyster Festival , which is held the third Saturday in August and offers a great venue to enjoy summertime food favorites and great music. If lobster is more of your thing, you can try Milford, CT Rotary's annual lobster bake on July 26.
