For the 3rd year in a row Milford Connecticut has been named one of the nations top 100 Best Communities for Young People to live. In Wednesday's New Haven Register, Milford's Mayor James L. Richetelli Jr. said Milford was specifically cited for reducing its drop out rate.
According to the website Americas Promise Alliance in America a student drops out of High School every 26 seconds. Milford's drop out rate is about 4% compared to the National average which is in the double digits. Click here for a map of the top 100 cities.

Milford has partnered with The International Brotherhood of Teamsters/Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation School-to-Work Mentoring Program in Stratford in an effort to keep at risk students in school and reduce the drop out rate. In turn Sikorsky will be able to fill future jobs with skilled and knowledgeble manufacturing employees.
