Without power for 9 hours, better than many in Connecticut. I read that there was something like 700,000 customers without power in CT alone, wow! I did brave the littered streets to get to my daughters house downtown, then walked over to see the Housatonic River, which has once again overflowed its banks and caused Rt. 7 to be closed in both directions. Many more streets are closed, bridges are closed, getting from point A to point B is no easy task.
All afternoon my grandson was trying to "fix" the problem. When the lights came back on, EVERY SINGLE LIGHT came on. And no lights were on when when the power went off!
So, we made it through the earthquake and Irene, all in one week.
Route 7 at Veterans Bridge. Auto Technic has plastered on their window, "Irene Blows". How appropriate... the Dunkin Donuts stands like an island, however Carvel was not so lucky...
