T-minus 2 weeks till LIFTOFF in New Milford, CT!

Save the date, Friday September 23, 2011, as far as I can tell, is the day I can once again go grocery shopping without falling on the floor at the checkout isle and writhing in pain and agony, the day I can start eating good foods again on a regular basis!

The new ALDI store, which I have been watching with a very impatient eye, is at 125 Danbury Rd in New Milford. It would appear the entrance is at the traffic light at Lores Plaza, although I admit I have not driven in there yet. By all accounts the grand opening will be Friday, September 23!!! A date that will live in infamy!

I know, such a silly thing to get all excited about you might think. But honestly, we have nothing to compare locally. My few experiences at ALDI in Torrington were fantastic, I am sure the bill was less than half, I actually got food that is good for you, and didn't have a stroke at the checkout. But it is just too far to go shopping on a regular basis.

This is long overdue. On a serious note, I wonder how we all do it, the rising costs of food has become unmanageable of late. This should really help so many out. So move over Stop & Shop and Big Y, there is a new kid in town and I already like this kid a whole lot better. So much for loyalty, sorry. Your coins, your gas discounts, your cards, which I always lose, mean little to me if I can save over 50% on my food bill (or more I think). I will come armed with my quarter for the carriage (refundable) and my bags to pack up my booty. I will run from the store feeling guilty, like the checkout person forgot to scan the most expensive item in my carriage.
