The "Christmas Tree Lighting" in Newtown, Connectcut

Each year the town is brought together to kick off holiday season with cider, donuts and even a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The serene Ram Pasture is filled with children laughing and family's anxiously waiting the beauty of the lighted Christmas Tree.

Preparation for this community event begins months before the actual lighting occurs. The cost of lighting the tree is supported by many local businesses. The businesses donate over 3,000 candles and luminaries which are lined on Main Street and other neighboring street. The tree, stands over 100 feet and holds over 5,000 colorful lights!

So, come down to Rams Pasture on December 4th @ 6:30pm and join the community to sing Christmas Carols, each others company and to, of course, light up Newtown!
