Did you know that the community-owned and operated Southington Drive-In is one of only 3 remaining outdoor movie venues in the state of Connectiuct? The drive-in first opened in 1954 and closed almost 50 years later in 2002. In 2004 the town of Southington purchased the land for the purpose of expanding nearby Recreation Park. Community leaders kept one of the 2 original screens intact for future use.

In 2010 a group of local volunteers formed the “Southington Drive-In Committee”. They reopened the theater which has enjoyed two very successful seasons so far. Each weekend during the summer, movies are hosted by a civic group and the cost of admission is donated to local organizations, all of which provide value to the town of Southington and it's residents.

Because of the community's continued support, over $12,000 were raised and distributed to local non-profit civic organizations! To learn more about this unique fundraiser and what you can do to show your support, please visit the Southington Drive-In site.
