Parking Scrooge chased out of DC for a day!

It seems the DC Government has chased away the Parking Scrooge for a short time anyway.

On Christmas Eve, December 24, the DC Parking Enforcement officers were hard at work issuing tickets. The problem arose when Federal Employees were given the day off.

Many people thought it was a Federal Holiday and did not pay attention to parking rules. The DC government has decided to forgive over 500 tickets (a $100+ fine) for Rush-Hour parking violations.

Department of Public Works Director William Howland Jr. stated "that many people thought enforcement was lifted since federal workers were given the day off."

The DC Government will "electronically" void these tickets. I personally would check the DC Parking Ticket Website; just to make sure they are voided. Better than fighting with a BOOT in the future.

If you received a parking tivcket on New Year's Eve, you are out of luck. Just pay it and move on with your New Year.

I think they should have thought of this prior to issuing the tickets. With that said, they are doing the right thing.

One thing - I always negotiate a parking space at the office.  I even had one at Pardoe - they paid for my Four Seasons space!  Cute post!

Good gesture on their part. The tickets should not have been issued in the first place.
