Washington, DC (Shaw Neighborhood)

Today is a day that I don't want to write a blog about things going on in the Real Estate industry. Instead, I've decided to write about the city where I sell. While I'm licensed in Maryland and Virginia as well as the District of Columbia, the majority of my business is in the DC market.

Washington, DC is more than the seat of government for the Feds. It is a community full of walkable neighborhoods. The Shaw Area (one of the many historic areas) is truly one of th emore walkable areas of the area. There are beautiful tree-lined streets and builidings of wonderful intricate architecture.

I recently sold a beautiful Victorian home in the Shaw Area. The home was spacious and provided my clients with the dream of homeownership in addition to the ability to restore and renovate the home to what they desired. The bring facing on the home was gorgeous.

My clients loved the Shaw area because of the history of the area. In close proximity to the Howard University area, my clients enjoyed the walking of the area. Over on 7th Street, you have an old Public School that has been converted into first a Cooperative and now a Condominium. The Lafayette is a beautiful grand dame in the area that shows her grandeur and style through old pale green paint, but is a beautiful building. She has had many of her units renovated, but it is rare in this day and age that you can walk into a building as gorgeous as The Lafayette and see a grand staircase in addition to wide hallways and outstanding light.

There are numerous rowhouses in the area that also have the beautiful exteriors associated with homes in that area. The homes are also large. There is plenty of wonderful diamonds in the rough for the family with the dream of renovation as well as plenty of homes that have already had their makeover.

Come visit the Shaw Neightborhood with me!
