Cape Coral and the Academic Village

It is exciting to see the city of Cape Coral is still marketing the Academic Village project at the corner of Del Prado and Kismet. I have always felt it would be a major benefit to Cape Coral to have a University within our city limits. It is in an ideal location to bring students down from Punta Gorda, over from N. Fort Myers and of course the County's biggest city, Cape Coral.

It would be wonderful if it was FGCU but they are struggling this year and need to adjust finances before growth in the future. I don't know how much of the old plan, which looked wonderful, could still be implemented due to the environmentally sensitive areas designated by US Army Corp. of engineers and SW Florida Water Management. Planning a campus and building is a lengthy process so it would be nice to see that we are actually moving forward.

This is a perfect fit to grow in a direction of economic diversity and with the research side that is being sought after could really put Cape Coral in a huge positive light which is sorely needed.
