Nice to hear that Clearwater is getting more green options from this program.  We don't have a Home Depot here in town but will have to check this out next time I am in Fayetteville.  I hope Lowe's follows suit since we have one of those in Sanford.  The green movement hasn't taken hold here locally but I am looking forward to the time when it does.  About the only "green" feature in my house is the compact fluorescent bulbs. 

Just went to Home Depot today. I replaced all my mom's bulbs with those squigley looking bulbs as she has a huge home...should be better on her electric bill. I'm learning more as well.

Cyndee.....  I think it's great that Home Depot is getting involved 110%. Making it very friendly within their stores. Is this going to be nationally?  You would think so. It looks like all types of people will not only be pushing green, but will be learning about green and what they need to do to improve things. Besides, there is some great savings involved.  Some good information here... thanks.

Cyndee this will be another great resource for Clearwater homeowners trying to maintain a green home. I haven't checked this out locally but I need to.

We are slowly recycling almost everything in our household.  We have put timers on our hot water heater and also on lights in halls and garaages where kids are always leaving lights on.  The lights have motion sensors to turn on and off after a set time. (bathroom fans too)

Cyndee - I hear much more about this from the South and West states. I guess I am more green than I thought; we do use the light bulbs, front load washer, timers, we recycle, but each day it seems there is something new.

Cyndee, I didn't know Home Depot did all this, except for the light bulbs. I will  check it out. I need to do timers on my TV's as my kids leave them on all night.

Cyndee - I'm learning more and more about the "Greenvolution" and I like it.  This one is bookmarked, nicely done!

Great information Cyndee.  We are trying to go as "green" as we can personally at home, so its nice to read these kinds of post now & then.

Cyndee, Great information. I guess our Home Depot is just as Green as your Home Depot and I just did not realize it!!! We do use the light bulbs and I can say it has helped with the electrical bill. 

Go Clearwater Home Depot and go Cyndee for letting us know!  I'm severly tempted to buy one of those front loading washers...then, of course, the dryer...  Do you think my husband would go for that???

I'm not a huge fan of the store but I think this will do well by offering customers the option...

They themselves could use a makeover!...skylights instead of mercury vapor bulbs??... more electric mowers and environmentally conscious decisions...

This is interesting to me, thanks for such a detailed review, I've learned something here. I've not hear of HD doing this before and I've got two HD stores within 10 minutes of my house. Thanks for sharing.

I found it interesting that when I take a look at my own household appliances and choices I often choose a greener product because it works better.... my front loader washer is not just great because it uses less water, but I can wash larger loads, and they get cleaner without wear and tear on my clothing.... my vacuum is a rainbow - which uses water to filter and so no more bags - and cut my household dust in half... I use rechargeable batteries, and those florescent bulbs... they are cooler and do not heat up the house when left on.  Some green products really are better than the old ones :o)

Mana - you're in for a treat when you start looking for pro-environment products - I love those lightbulbs too. 

Chris - read on Thesa shares the "benefits" she's expereincing - maybe he'll say yes when he sees that helping the enviroment is also helping sames money and gets his clothes cleaner :-) 

Cyndee, interesting post... I didn't realize Home Depot was gearing its marketing towards "green products".  Very informative.

David - points well made - we'll see if we see more of that too - I know they were looking into the electric mower options - that may already be there.

Irina - yes - they've committed to being a leader in this area - hoping to profit from being green early and deep. We'll see if their customers are ready to embrace this new inventory. People will validate their position with their dollars at the register. 

The key to success (for anything) to turning green is easy access! It you make it easy to get to or easy to use people will comply. And it all has to make sense! Do the Right Thing!

Dena - great wisdom - "easy access + easy to use + makes sense" = SUCCESS - I believe that's what Home Depot is hoping for - we'll see won't we. I'm still learning a lot from my Eco-friends - thanks for sharing!!

Cyndee - Another great local piece informing the consumer of the green options available at Home Depot.  Good to see a large store becoming engage.  My community is very interested in using green products.  The town was also interested in wind generated energy I have to see if that is progressing.

Our MLS just went Green.  Do you have that too?

I am so glad to hear that!  I have not heard of anything green coming from our local Home Depots, but I will certainly pay more attention.

Great information. It's good to see Home Depot trying to repair its tarnished image with the green approach. Didn't know they were into it so deep. Hopefully all these products will be available nationwide, like the solar-powered landscape lighting, biodegradable pots and eco-friendly house paints.

Cyndee, I love this eco friendly post!  Many homeowners in Tampa Bay are looking for ways to be more eco friendly and this is a great resource for homeowners!  Personally, we have been changing out our lightbulbs throughout the house to more energy efficient bulbs.  It's so true that doing that smallest thing can make a big difference

Cyndee... I'm so sorry it took me a while to get to this... We are trying to do more green.  We have changed our outside lights to solar, the squiggly ones in all the others attached to the house, with the attachments to go on only at night, and all squiggly ones in the inside of the house.  Thank you for sharing this information.
