WHY I LOVE MY PROFESSION........REALTOR! :-)

Sally, you have given us something that is SO EASY to write about!!! Thank you! Most of us would have never come up with the idea of writing about why we love what we do without you leading the way!!! That's our Sally! And one of the things about being a realtor that is so great! We get to meet such interesting people each and every day!!!

I found my way to ActiveRain because I am a Realtor and here in the Rain I have made so many wonderful new friends! I have learned a lot and shared a lot with others! There is no place on the internet that I would rather spend my time than right here in ActiveRain! This place is really addicting!!!!

My profession gave me the chance to do one of my favorite things: view other people's homes!!! Ever since I was a kid living in Connecticut, I have loved doing just that! My mother would take me for drives and we would stop and view homes just because it was fun. She was not interested in purchasing anything, we had a home - it was just something she enjoyed doing and she passed the bug onto me!!! I am so glad she did!!!! This wonderful profession gives me the opportunity to see some really fantastic homes and even get to see smiles on people's faces when I find 'just the right home' for them to move into!!! What a great feeling that is! A real rush!!!!

Naturally, the hours are fantastic! Having spent many years in the education field I was already used to doing work at home, so this is nothing new. But knowing that I can plan everything later in the day if I want to or even take the day off is fantastic!!! It goes without saying that for all the time taken off, we do burn the late night candle too, but when you are doing something you love it does not matter!!!!

One thing that I really get off on is that we are always in school learning something new and interesting! Whether the new hurricane construction codes or what Tallahassee or Washington is planning on changing (again) with regards to housing loans, there is always plenty to learn!!!! I have been getting continuing education my entire life and love learning. I did not (finally) get my Master's Degree until 1995 !!! And have taken enough classes since then that it would have easily been enough for a PhD in SOMETHING! I love to learn! And I think most successful realtors are in that same boat!!! There is so much to stay informed on if you are to be an expert in your field!!!!

I have had many hats during my life, including bank clerk, bilingual secretary, high school instructor, adult education instructor, private employment counselor, coffee shop owner.....the list goes on. But NOTHING has given me the joy and satisfaction that I get from being a REALTOR!!!!

Thank you, Sally Cheeseman for getting us to write about our wonderful profession!!!! You are tops!
