
Clearwater/Clearwater Beach Florida is located in Pinellas County due west of Tampa. It has a population of approximate 110,000 people. Prior to 1906, the area was known as Clear Water Harbor. Clearwater was incorporated as a town in 1891. Clearwater was reincorporated in May 27, 1915 and made the county seat for Pinellas County. Also in 1915 a bridge was built across Clearwater Harbor joining the city with modern day Clearwater Beach.
Clearwater Beach has been rated "the number one activity beach in the nation" and offers a variety of beach activities such as volleyball, fishing, parasailing and much more. A very popular nightly sunset celebration takes place at Pier 60 Park and offers free family events featuring live musical entertainment, street performers and crafters. There are numerous nice restaurants close by like Island Way Grill, Caretta on the Gulf, Shephard´s, Kiku and Frenchy´s. Many nice hotels and motels can also be found on the beach. Caladesi Island State Park, the top American Beach with white powder sand and crystal water is located just outside Clearwater/Dunedin and can be reached by boat or ferry from Clearwater Beach and Honeymoon Island.
