No Walmart for Plaza Collina!

I have just found out that Wal-mart Stores Inc. has decided they would not pursue a new supercenter at Plaza Collina. Ya think? We already had one just a few miles down the street. When I first heard that Plaza Collina had landed Walmart as their "anchor", I was kind of surprised. I had always thought that Plaza Collina was supposed to be a bunch of upscale stores...Walmart just didn't seem to fit that bill.

Does losing Walmart change the landscape of the Plaza? Not sure, but developers of the Collina project have said they will continue moving forward despite losing Walmart.

So, what store will replace Walmart as the new anchor? I don't know, but here is a store that I think would do great in South Lake County...Bass Pro Shop. With all of the great lakes and fishing in this area, how do we not have one yet? Come on Plaza Collina Developers...make it happen!!!

What stores/restaurants would you like to see in Lake County? State your opinion, you never know who is reading!!!

Until next time...

Andrew-

The funny thing about the whole Walmart as the anchor thing is that Plaza Collina was going to be a bunch of upscale stores. Bella Collina is a community that has homes in the 3-6 million dollar range.

I think the Bass Pro Shop is definately a better choice.  Everyone needs a good excues to go fishing.  Hey is the sun shinning "Let's Go Fishing"  or "I think the fish bite better when it's raining, Let's Go Fishing"  I think that just about covers it.

Johnny,  IMO you would be better off without them.  Speaking from the perspective of a completely different real estate market, here they are now the number one private employer in our county, wages are low, employees appear unhappy, merchandise is inferior and we have little choices any longer. Its also rare to sell a home to one of their employees.  Their alleged practice of forcing suppliers to move their operations to China benefits no one. Now I just returned from Brazil and found they had purchased 160+ super stores called Bom Preço. These stores are filled with Brazilian made products so at least at this stage (as here in the USA when the stores were run by Sam Walton) a little more money stays in the community.  However if they would just invest a very small share of their profit in wages or benefits in our area rather than using there huge profits to buy up markets in other countries, our community would be much better off.

Hey, I loved Leesburg, was married there 9 years ago.

Your suggestions are right on with what I think this area could use. Kind of create a Mall of Millenia atmosphere in Clermont.
