The third annual Florida Wildflower Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 28 on West Indiana Avenue in downtown DeLand. Originally having a Volusia County focus, the Florida Wildflower Festival is gradually expanding into a statewide celebration and a forum to encourage wildflower propagation both commercially and residentially.
The festival will feature vendors who provide information, products and arts and crafts related to native plant gardening, gardening for birds, butterflies and wildlife, habitat creation, environmental conservation, recycling and "green" living. Organizers said more potted wildflowers will be offered for sale than in past years, thanks to their partnership with the Volusia County Extension Service, 4-H and the DeLand Garden Club. Festival goers can also purchase packaged wildflower seeds, provided by the Florida Wildflower Growers Coop.
