Palm Beach County commissioners have reached agreement with the Town of Jupiter and Egret Landing Home Owners Association for the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Indian Creek Parkway and Egret Landing Boulevard. However, Egret Landing wants a mast arm that would cost $26,000. The county wanted to install a span wire traffic signal; Egret Landing said no, for two reasons: Mast arm traffic signals are more resistant to storm damage than span wire traffic signals, and the span wire pole was placed in front of the community's entrance sign. Commissioners had budgeted $50,000 for the job. However, the incremental cost of the mast arm traffic signal versus the span wire traffic signal is $102,000. The District 1 Commissioner has authorized $50,000 toward the incremental cost. The Town of Jupiter and Egret Landing Home Owners Association have each agreed to pay $26,000.
