Shores Pediatrics and Dr. Laura Fernandez-Ortiz - coming to Miami Shores

Dr. Laura Fernandez-Ortiz

A lot of people relocating to Miami, especially Miami Shores, always ask me if I can recommend a pediatrician. Obviously, choosing a doctor is always very personal but having a doctor that is close by and responds quickly to emergencies is one of the most important factors when dealing with sick kids.

So here is my plug for an awesome Miami pediatrician and friend. Shores Pediatrics is run by Dr. Laura Fernandez-Ortiz who not only has children of her own, but is an active Miami Shores resident. You will see her at all the community events from the Christmas Lighting ceremony to Unity Day.

Shores Pediatrics

Dr. Laura gives her medical practice that personal touch that so many other doctors are loosing because all they think about is money. She will take her time with your children and discuss preventive medicine. She has trained under the best doctors and I trust her with my own without even blinking an eye. You can also tell a lot about the doctor by the staff they choose and you can rest assured that at Shores Pediatrics you will experience the best care possible (I'm not exaggerating), from the nursing staff to the receptionist, they know how to deal with patients and will learn your name as well as your kids' in no time.

Shores Pediatrics

Her practice is temporarily located in Hollywood at 4801 Hollywood Boulevard -(which is 15 to 20 minutes away from Miami Shores).

The good news is that Shores Pediatrics will move to their permanent location in Miami Shores on November of 2008. The address will be 209 NE 95th Street, Miami Shores, FL 33138.

You can reach Shores Pediatrics and Dr. Laura Fernandez-Ortiz at (954) 987-8740 and visit her website at www.ShoresPediatrics.com

Ines, This is good information, it's definitely difficult to find a good doctor.  I love the bright colors she used for the children!

Carole - and to think she did that at a temporary location (there was a non-compete and she had to be a certain number of miles away) and it expires in November.  Not because Laura is a friend, but she has gone out of her way to make the place feel welcoming, which is so important for little ones.

Terrific localism post, Ines. I know when we moved (multiple times) finding a pediatrician we liked was so important. It was very hard to make one move because we lost the pediatrician we, and the kids, liked the best. We continued to go to her when we moved locally even though the drive increased to 45 minutes, but onoce out of state...

Jeff

I'm with you Jeff - the times we have had to change insurance, the first doctor we check to make sure they are on the plan is the pediatrician.    The thing about pediatric offices in my area is that they treat patients by numbers and it seems so impersonal (not to mention if you ever have an emergency).  Dr. Laura goes out of her way to make you feel important and HUMAN!

Ines, this is great for parents new to the area I bet Dr. Laura's phone will be ringing off the hook.

Ca I ask ..How do you do the photos with the shadows?? They look great!

Ginger - were you speed typing?  you missed a letter in every other word - LOL!  The funny thing with Dr. Laura is that her site is not getting up on the search engines and people have found her because of my posts.  So I will keep helping as much as I can.

As for the shadows, I use picnik.com - it was Jeff Turner that sent me that way and I love it.

Hi Ines, letters fixed..LOL.. With the picnik.com do you just upload them like that into wysiwyg or HTML?? Thanks, G

You upload jpeg or gif files and make alterations, then save onto your hard-drive

Ines, Got that part.. I have been using Picnik for a couple of weeks , but haven't explored the extras.. like the shadow effects I'll try it tomorrow! Thanks!

Ines there are a lot of things that people have to consider when they relocate to a new area, and none more important than a physician that they can trust.

Ginger - ooops - just use the image upload on the wysiwyg.  (that's what you wer asking right?)

George - you are absolutely right, and pediatricians are not easy especially because you do become a number in a practice with hundreds of patients.  My kids love to go to the doctor because it's fun and they feel special - can't beat that!

Ines - I loved the way you shared this info - looks like she'll be a real asset to Miami Shores!

Hi Cyndee - she already is an asset for sure - it's about getting over that non-compete and waiting to November.  Thanks!
