There appears to be good news coming for first-time homebuyers that had a home under contract by April 30, 2010 but were not able to close by the June 30th tax credit deadline.
The tax credit extension was overwhelmingly approved by the House on Tuesday and President Obama is expected to sign it. Under the bill, first-time homebuyers that were already under contract by April 30 but not able to close by the prior June 30 deadline will now have until September 30, 2010 to close and receive the $8,000 tax credit. The bill does not extend the tax credit to homebuyers that were not already under contract by April 30, 2010.
