I could't sleep this morning so I got up and decided to take a trip to Pensacola Beach, it is very quiet this time of year. As I pulled my car into the parking lot by the water tower, it was like a ghost town only three count em three cars in this vast space of a parking lot. Normally you cannot find a parking space. But as I walked toward the sand there was a guy standing outside Crabs which by the way is a great place to eat and I decided to watch the waves wash up on the beach.
Ask for a waiter named Jamie if you ever get to go there he will take good care of and no you don't even have to mention my name he is just that good. I have been about a couple of dozen times and although Jamie was not always our waiter people that he waited on just seem to have a great time so we started asking for him.
Anyway back to my walk on Gods gift to Pensacola, with the sand running between my toes, the wind blowing through whatt is left of my hair it was one of the most energizing walks that I have ever had. I pace myself walking on a daily basis so I pretty much know what five miles is like so I'm guessing here this must have been over that. I say what appeared to be two dolphins playing or swimming anyway. Fish were jumping galore and oh for the crabs dancing more like running on the beach. I couldn't help but wonder what other people around Pensacola or the world for that matter would think of all this beautiful place that we are fortunate to call home. I can only wonder if this was what it was like the first time Adam and Eve saw the Garden of Eden it must have been close to the same feeling.
At about 7 am the beach started to come alive people walking, cars humming and horns blowing. I strolled down to te board walk and had coffee at Anns, a great cup of Joe and this comes from a Starbucks kind of gal. I took my second cup and went on down the way to Pops Place for a Bagel and some of them yellow grits he's so famous for. We shot the breeze for about an hour and then the newspapers were delivered and since I gave up reading the news just over a year ago I passed on the reading and found my way over to Jims Clothiers a fancy type clothing store I guess. About the time I saw Jim we ask at the same time how's business and of course with the market the way it is and me refusing to lie about it, I just said a little slow but getting better. Jim went on for about an hour just like always when I see him, OMG that man must know everyone, as he went on and on about evrything that has happened around the beach this summer and beleive me if it happened Jim knows. Anyway I left there and made it back to my car and started to head home. But this morning was wonderful and I can't help but wish everyone a Happy New Year and hopefully you will have a quiet place to call your own.
