The Pros and Cons of Social Networking in Real Estate

Being a Realtor in the Tampa Real Estate Market, I use social networking for most of my "advertising". It is not really advertising though, more like socializing or networking. The great thing about Social Networking is that I can meet many people very quickly from all over the planet. That is the great part, the part where I can form relationships with people i have never met, send leads back and forth, and just converse about both professional and personal things. Well, that type of networking for me requires me to be "Transparent" in who I am. What I mean is that, for people to really know who I am, I open all the flood gates and let people see who I am for what I am. You either like me, or you don't. Either way, I am honest and ethical about who I am.

Well, some people will try to use that as a means of attack, both professionally and personally. The people that choose to attack are usually the ones that know very little about Social Networking and how things can backfire on you especially when they hide in the shadows. When you are honest with others about who you are, and they see that you are being attacked, it is truly amazing to me at how people come to your rescue, without ever asking them too.

I love Social Networking, I enjoy speaking to the people I have met online and forged friendships with, and I am especially grateful for support in times of need. I am a big boy and can handle myself in most cases, but to know that people have your back, now thats true influence in Social Media.
