Steak n' Shake is a name that has been around since 1934, when Gus Belt founded the first restaurant. Back then steaks were ground into hamburger at the food counter, right in front of the guests. Some say the steakburger is the finest burger in the world.

Steak n' Shake is also known for it's rich, hand dipped shakes, made from fresh ice cream.

The first restaurant featured only a counter, where diners could grab a seat, and then eventually grew to curb service, where customers could pull up in their cars.

Steak n' Shake has grown to over 475 restaurants in 22 different states. Two of those can be found here in Brevard County Florida. One is located across from the Merritt Square Mall in Merritt Island. The other one can be found on 192, New Haven Ave., across from the Melbourne Square Mall in Melbourne, Florida.

They are currently featuring 4 meals for under $4.00.

My daughters and I had a delicious lunch there recently. They each ordered one of their world famous milk shakes. Strawberry was my favorite. The service was fast. We got our meals right away. For the 3 of us, we paid under $20.00 for lunch.

Currently, the milkshakes are half price between 2:00 and 4:00, Monday through Friday.
