Getting Your Home "Dressed To Sell" in Venice Florida...Part Two of Series..."Grime 102"

In Getting Your Home "Dressed To Sell" in Venice Florida...
"Grime 101" You were reminded how important it is to clean with pressure washing the concrete surfaces and walls of you home before entering the market to sell. You saw the "before and after" images and probably thought that they were two different homes.

Today, I want you to look at your roof, whether it be of Shingles, Concrete Tile, Built-Up or a Metal Product, and check for mildew accumulation. It is very easy to detect by its blackish color and the discoloration of the roofing. Please call a couple of Roof Cleaners and get estimates on what a cleaning would cost. Tile and metal roofs are treated with liquid chlorine, or other algicides (mildew-killing chemicals) and then cleaned with pressure washers. Shingled roofs are treated with liquid chlorine and rinsed under lower pressure, to keep from blasting the gravel off of the shingles. In either case, hire a professional roof cleaner. This job should cost around $150-200.

You will stand back and marvel, "WOW, I/we have a new roof!' And, that is exactly what the home shopper will think as they scrutinize your "new" home!

Concrete Tile w/Heavy Mildew Nice and Clean for the Market!

Built-Up Roof w/Heavy Mildew Clean Built-Up Roof!
Yep, Mildew on Shingle Roof Nope, No Mildew Here!
That's it for the MILDEW...Go wash hands because there is more to do outside, at no cost to your purse or wallet, in Getting Your Home "Dressed to Sell" in Venice Florida. Walk all the way around your home, pick up ALL trash (including cigarette butts) and remove "everything that doesn't belong" on the outside (like the bikes in the 1st picture above). By all means, don't leave anything standing against the siding, like old plywood, toys, lumber, trash barrels, and the like. These will attract eyeballs of the prospects to the negative side and mask the beautiful things that you have done to your home. If you have a fence, take time to nail in place some of those boards that have fallen or slipped, and tamp the soil around a few of the posts that are no longer in plumb. Now you have the idea, fix those things that have been nagging you as you look around your property. Good Job!

No, you are not done yet! The landscaping is almost as important as the house itself, and we will deal with that in Part 3, coming up in 2 days!
