Hurricane Bill Appears to Stay East of Florida as of August 18th

It now appears on August 18th that the projected path of Hurricane Bill is going to stay well east of Florida and go up the coast of the United States. Hopefully its effects will be nothing more than a light breeze and some nice soaking rains which we need. However, do keep in mind that these storms can often modify their paths and do strange things. I have even seen them do loops out in the ocean and come back again. At times they will weaken only to gain strength again. So do stay aware of approaching storms.

They follow each depression, tropical storm and hurricane as they approach the United States. They also offer a variety of maps similar to the one above that can tell you where the storm may go, how strong the winds are, etc. It can be a very interesting site, especially for those of you who own homes here in Florida.

If you have not already done so, you may want to get prepared. Waiting until the last minute could be too late. Even if it turns out to be a false alarm, all of the canned food and bottled water can be eaten in the fall and winter when severe storms no longer threaten us.
