Port St. Lucie Florida-Civic Center's Fitness Center hosts Cardio Challenge

Civic Center's Fitness Center hosts Cardio Challenge

Posted: Feb. 4, 2010

In its ongoing efforts to keep residents in top shape, the Port St. Lucie Fitness Center presents the Cardio Challenge on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Civic Center.

This event is a running challenge involving a bleep test (also known as a shuttle run or beep test), in which cones are set a certain distance apart. Participants run from cone to cone in between the beeps, which increase in intensity as the test progresses. The test is an effective way to measure aerobic fitness and maximum oxygen uptake, and is often used to assess the fitness of soldiers in training.

The winners of the challenge receive a three-month membership to the Civic Center's Fitness/Recreation centers.

This event is limited to 60 participants. To reserve a spot by telephone, call the Port St. Lucie Civic Center at (772) 204-7101.

The Civic Center is located at 9221 S.E. Civic Center Place, on the southeast corner of U.S. 1 and Walton Road.
