Pink Tie - Breast Cancer

I was reading the paper, I ran across a bit of information in the local section about an organization, the Pink Tie Friends. What caught my attention was the name I had seen this name before; My Broker is in the calendar that they publish. I had never thought to ask what the orginization did. Until I read this artical.

My Broker is a breast cancer survivor! She is a very special woman she just had another biopsies it was negative. Which was absolutely fantastic for her and us. We are a family in our office.

Well, as I read on in the tiny little Community note about how they help under-insured breast cancer patients on the Treasure Coast. They meet every Wednesday 5:30 - 7 pm at the Robert & Carol Wiessman Cancer Center. The website information http://www.pinktiefriends.org/ I desided to check it out.

This is what I found out about the orginization. It is a public charity formed by a group of cancer patients, survivors and loyal supporters. They are there for women diagnosed with breast cancer who lack health insurance. They have raised funds and awareness through the Calendar - Girls Fighting Breast Cancer (My Broker was in this calendar), the Pink Tie Gala and the Pink Tie Music for Life Concert. (Not only was my Broker a calendar girl but she used to sit on the commitee.)

It never ocurred to me that there were such organizations in my town. As I learn more about my community I enjoy living here more.

I just wanted to share this information with anyone who could use their help or could help them continue their Great work.
