Human nature. Why do we use this phrase when referring to the negative only?

People who play or scam other people...just human nature.

Those who are only about themselves and their selfishness...just human nature.

People who lie, cheat and steal...just human nature.

In our society, the term "human nature" seems to always have a bad connotation, applying to our baser qualities. Why is that?

I long for the day when someone:

Gives $$ to a worthwhile charity and we say...just human nature.
Loves his/her neighbor...just human nature.
Cares about senior citizens...just human nature.
Helps wherever there is a need...just human nature.

Wouldn't that be wonderful?
