Something for Him – Something for Her!

For you civil war buffs, you’ll not want to miss the February 25 - 27 Civil War Days Heritage Festival this year. Did you know that when the Civil War occurred, despite Florida seceding from the Union, Key West remained in Union control (due to the naval base)? Our rich history will be on display, as Civil War re-enactors bring Fort Zachary Taylor back to its earliest days. This event will be held at the end of Southard Street, at the entrance to Fort Zachary Taylor State Park. For more information, call (305) 292-6850. You’ll feel like you are really there!

And there’s more...

For those who crave a little less excitement in the day, The 46th Annual Old Island Days Art Festival will be a welcome respite, on February 25 – 27. This annual event draws over 100 artists to Old Town Key West with watercolors, oil, acrylics, sculpture, art jewelry (my favorites), and more on Whitehead & Caroline Streets. The Festival is held from 10am to 5pm daily; it’s free, and open to the public. For more information, call (305) 294-1243.

After a long and fun-filled day, make plans to meet back at one of our fine restaurants. The sunsets are spectacular, and it will give you a chance to discuss why you aren’t living in the Florida Keys! Call me while you are here for the long weekend, and I’ll show you even more reasons why you should come for a visit, but stay for a lifetime.

Ah – February in the Florida Keys…it’s the only place to be.
