Home sales subject to new laws Beginning Monday, buying a home in Florida comes with new rules that are expected to create more transparency in the lending process while they require out-of-state title agencies to follow the same rules as agencies in the state.
Under Senate Bill 1824, powers have expanded for law enforcement to combat mortgage fraud, officials with the Florida Association of Realtors said. That includes any errors made in the lending process that could be tied to an intent to defraud.

I'm in Florida too - I thought GFE's were standard in any loan transaction - I always insist on a GFE right up front for my buyers. It is nice to see that any changes to the loan must have a new GFE at least 3 days prior to closing. I also do mobile loan closings and there are a huge # of borrowers that didn't know about changes to the loan they thought they were getting until the closing table.
That's interesting about the title companies. I tend to stick with a few favorites but I have seen some real gouging for title fees on HUDs.
