Father Toste: Priest, Actor, Teacher, Friend

What do you say about an old Thespian Priest who died? I never met the man in question, but have heard much about him. His name was Father Frank Toste. From 1970 through 1990, he was a theater teacher at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School in Peabody, Massachusetts. He was also the head of the Peabody High Drama Club called Stage One. He was also an actor and was featured in major motion pictures including "Oliver's Story" and "The Proposition." He was also a technical adviser to the television series, Mash. Father Toste passed away yesterday.

He was my wife's teacher back in the day and it is from her that I learned about this amazing man and his story. It is the story of dedication and grace. It is the story of a man who befriended and inspired young people. It is the story of a great teacher. For those of you who would desire details and to hear the stories of his students, I direct you to the Facebook Page of Stage One, which has become a memorial to this man over the past week, since his former students learned of his grave illness.
