Key West is one of the nicest places you can spend Christmas, the town comes alive with a warm glow from......the Happy people and of course some cheer.
The beaches are still very enjoyable especially between 10am and 4pm.Sunset is usually around 5.45pm at this time of year, in Summer where talking almost 8.30pm.During the build up to Christmas there are various get together events in the community. Tourists are always welcome, considering that is how most of us fell in love with Key West anyway, some of these events include: The lighted boat parade and Santacon ( everyone is dressed up as Santa Claus) which brings many tropical versions of Santa into the picture, personally I really like Floral boardshort or Floral Shirt Santa. Now for the day of Christmas most like to make multiple stops at various friends and aquaintances to wish everyone Happy Holidays and too soak up some more cheer.
Just before Christmas is one of the quitest times of year as everyone unwinds and begins to gear up for the busy Real Estate and Tourist season to begin. Like clock work the day after Christmas is when all the folks from up North start arriving, they have finished their family obligations and have spent enough time with their grand kids and are now ready for the big trek South, for warmth and festivites to break in the New Year.Kind of like the penguin march but just backwards.
I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and hope to see you all down at Ft Zachory Taylor State Park Beach in Key West for the warm upcoming season.
Take care
Happy Holidays
