Negotiations with major Vero Beach employer New Piper are "alive" for sure and "well" we hope. We have learned that the Indian River County Commission will vote next Monday morning April 28 to provide $4 million as an initial investment from the $12 million local and $20 million additional Florida state enterprise development funds to entice Piper to remain in Vero Beach and build their new Honda-Piper joint venture personal jet aircraft here. In addition to saving the 1,100 current Vero Beach jobs, Piper would be adding about 500 new jobs - very welcome employment opportunities.
