Real Estate Agents vs. REALTORS®

Many real estate consumers do not know that there is a difference between real estate agents and REALTORS®. There are millions of licensed real estate professionals in the United States, but only members of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® can call themselves REALTORS®.

The differences that define real estate agents and REALTORS® are as follows:

  1. Real estate agents are simply licenced practitioners who have been licensed by their state to act as a liaison between buyers and sellers.
  2. REALTORS® are members of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and are governed by the association's strict Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.

It is important to chose to work with a REALTORS® when you are involved in a real estate transaction, to ensure that your licensed professional is going to represent you in an ethical matter, and always has "YOUR" best interest in mind!
