Naples, Florida

This is my first blog on Active Rain. I look forward to letting the world know more about Naples, Florida and why I love living and working here.

For 2nd home buyers, now is the time to make that move and BUY. Our inventories are shrinking and soon the sellers will not be as willing to negotiate on the price.

Stay tuned, there will be more.

Make it a great day!

Welcome --- And best wishes. You will love AR and the best thing to do is set aside time each week to blog and READ. There is so much information to gather and insight from many, many seasoned pros from all around the country.  And Naples could not be a better place to live and work!

Naples is a nice area, but so is all of SW Florida!!

Ronald,

You are right! All of SW Florida is wonderful. But as they say,"there's no place like home". Naples is my home and I love, love, love it. I wake up everymorning and pinch myself. I have to admit that when we lived in Doyletown PA I felt the same way (exept for the weather). The history (outside of Philadelphia near Washington's Crossing) the hoagies, the wonderful architecture and most imprortantly, the families that had  been in this area since the 1800's and still there! Thank you for your comment and enjoy lovely Punta Gorda.

Lynn, I've been here in Port Charlotte since '84, although I've lived or vacationed in Charlotte County my whole life.  Did I mention to you previously, I graduated from CB West?  Many a moon ago..  :-)

My brother still works @ Philly Int'l Airport, and lives in Sellersville, and my sister lives in the southern suburbs as well.  My mom just moved from Warrington last month to near Tampa.  Finally I have another family member nearby - when I moved here, my Grandpa lived in Englewood - why I moved here, plus my familiarity with the area.

Have a great week!

Ronald,

Wow! You could've knocked me over with a feather. CB West as we used to say West is Best. Our daughter graduated in '87 and our son in '91. Dughter played fiedl hockey and son was with Coach Pettine and football.  I miss those Friday night football games so much. What a fun, fun time. We lived in Chalfont and then Doyletown for the better part of 20 years before moving. I grew up in FL and married a Yankee. Took a while but I learned to love Philly. Still miss it but NOT the weather. WE found Naples by visiting my hubsand's Mom. Learned that the west coast of FL is as bad as I thought having grown up on the east coast near Daytona. By the way, West is no longer the football powerhouse and Sellersville is. Go figure! They split in CB South and the rest is history. Pettine and Carey got out at a great time. We love SW FL and I know there are a lot of other grads around this coast.

Have a great day!

West is BEST, East is LEASTSmiley

I know about the 'South' and if I were still there, that is where I would've gone.  Never liked Pettine, but when he was there, he was one of THE best HS football coaches anywhere.  They were almost always ranked in US top 25 by USA Today.  I kept track of them!  I do NOT miss weather, but I do miss family.  Although, finally after 20 plus years, I finally have another family member near - my mom, just south of Tampa.  If I have correct facts, Sellersville HS Football is now coached by Pettine's son, correct?  Don't know Carey.  Also, in early '80's CBWest was very strong in field hockey, girls won state championship I think in '82???   Ahhh, do miss the area, wish I could transplant the weather to up there, I'd move back in a heart beat!

Good morning. Hopefully with no rain toady.

Pettine was a guy you had to know. I learned, after I got to know him, he was smacked as a kid if he said something before  he thought. So when you talked tohim you'd get this pregnanat pause and want to die. I was the Pres. of the CB West Football Mother's club and had to deal with him directly. To this day my son and the entire family think the world of him, but, you had to know him. Mike Carey was his offensive line coach and he was the one we didin't care for. They ran the good cop bad cop routine but in the end they got the most out of the kids and to this day, any guy who played for him respects the heck out of him. His son, Michael Pettine is now a Dback coach with the Ba;ltimore Ravens. I was thinking of Souderton when you were tlaking aobut Sellersville. Souderton has become a powerhouse. Sellersville was coached by Drew S. when we were there. My husband and I just can't think of his last name. I  don't know who is there now. Dick Beck who played for West is coach for North Penn and they beat us all over the place now...it's like the old West vs Truman, really sad. My hubby and I were out at a function last night and the bar tender was from the NE. He went to Lower Moreland. It's so fun to talk to people from the area and trade area hoagie info. Have a great day and hope for a sunny day today....I felt like I was back in the north all this week, this is why I moved down here, for the SUN! Makes me happy. Have a good one!

Started with rain, but the sun is peaking through!!  We'll have to agree to disagree about Pettine, except we certainly agree he knew how to put together a winning football tean - NO ONE can dispute that fact!   Have a great day!
