The Barron Collier Group has partnered with the Evans family to begin plans for an active adult community. The "Grove" located in NE Okeechobee County is proposed to feature 14,000 homes and 1.3 of commercial space. There will be several golf courses and other activities for residents and guests. A turnpike exchange is planned for construction making it very easy to commute from Orlando or South East Florida. The grove will replace a citrus grove and will be just west of Vero Beach and east of Fort Drum. Known for its citrus, dairy, and beef, this area will soon be home to many new visitors.
