Does Positive Thinking Benefit the Florida Real Estate Market?
Nationwide, only a mere 11% of real estate agents believe there will be an increase in home prices in their states within the next six months. Contrarily, 22% of Florida real estate agents predict a rise in home prices.
According to HomeGain, who polled 2200 homeowners 500 agents during a third Quarter survey, most homeowners and real estate professionals in the US believe home values will linger at current rates or will face a further decline, through the rest of 2011.
If the professionals in Florida are correct, the upward ticks in home values would suggest that the bottom is finally behind us and that market prices will soon begin to regain some previous losses.
Nationally, there is a dramatic difference in opinion among the homeowners and agents who expect any increase in values. Arizona was the only state where the optimistic opinions of real estate professionals were brighter than those in Florida. Thirty-three per cent of their experts predict an increase in home values.
The recent survey by HomeGain reveals that most of the real estate professionals and homeowners in the US believe that prices have not yet reached their bottom. Even so, this number paints a more encouraging perspective than was held during the 2nd Quarter!
Both agents and brokers are almost in universal agreement that sellers still believe their homes are listed at far too low an asking price. However, buyers are expecting that prices will not fluctuate much during the next several months.
Generally, the most optimistic outlooks are held by the states whose markets took the hardest blows: Florida, California, Ohio, Texas and Arizona. The states with the most negative expectations for the upcoming months include: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Virginia and North Carolina.
