Visit Columbia Restaurant in Sarasota Florida located on St. Armands Circle to people watch and a delightful epicurean experience.

A few months ago a customer in Las Vegas called me about Sarasota real estate. As soon as we scheduled our appointments for showing he mentioned "can we go to St. Armands Circle and have a 1905 salad after we look at property?" Last Sunday, we went to Columbia and four out of the four of us ordered the world famous "1905" Salad!
Our group sat at an indoor outdoor table on the Mediterranean patio room and enjoyed good conversation and people watching on the Circle. Marsha and Bob Albert added a Cuban sandwich to their salad order and Winsor Harmon added scallops to his. I always add the black bean soup.
Marsha and Bob met Winsor and me for lunch to meet Winsor Harmon for the first time. Marsha and Winsor are soap opera related as their real life children are brother and sister on "The Bold and the Beautiful." Lesli Kay and Winsor HarmonIII play Felicia and Thorne Forrester. Lesli worked for me in Charleston, WV at Kitchen Kaboodle as a teenager and was my babysitter. Her brothers David and Michael both went to George Washington High School with my sons: Bill and Scott. Marsha convinced me to purchase Sarasota real estate almost 10 years ago.
Lesli Kay visited Sarasotain May and word has it that Lesli and Winsor, aka Felicia and Thorne, will visit Sarasota this year so watch the Columbia. You never know whose walked the "red carpet" and is visiting the Circle, and by all means order a 1905 Salad at Columbia Restaurant -- it's always a hit!

That sounds like a fun day, and the salad sounds good too. Why is it world famous and what is in it that makes it so special?
Hi Norma, the Circle is always fun. Why is the 1905 sald world-famous? I don't know. Will have to Google and see as I've just seen it written that way many times. Main ingredient: garlic, garlic and more garlic. Also, lettuce, onions, small pieces of ham. It's delicious! The recipe is on the inside cover of matchbooks at the Columbia but most people just happen to find that out by chance.
That whole area is awesome to visit. Anyone living here or visiting should visit there as much as possible! BTW, you may want to go back into this blog & edit it, and include it in Anything Southwest Florida Area for more exposure!
Ronald, the Columbia, is special. I'm sure you know. Thanks and I'll add it to Anything Southwest Florida!
Don't order the salad with chicken on it can't remember the name. You can not believe the salt. I complained about the salt and the waiter said that a lot people don't like all the salt. What is up with that?
Edie, I always order the same thing so haven't had that salad with the chicken on it. Now I'm sure I won't as I never even add salt so certainly wouldn't enjoy something that is too "salty"! I'll stick with the 1905 salad. One of my friends orders it without the ham. Don't complain about the garlic though -- I'll tell you upfront, it is loaded.
