The Sanderling Club and Sarasota Real Estate

The Sanderling Club and Sarasota Real Estate

With so many different Sarasota communities to choose from, sometimes it is hard to keep track of them all. The Sanderling Club, located in the south Turtle Beach area of Siesta Key, is a beautiful neighborhood that I was reminded of as I went for a Saturday drive this past weekend. The neighborhood was created by Elbridge Boyd during the 1940's & 50's, and was originally called The Siesta Club. Today, it is called the Sanderling Club, and is one of the most exclusive gated communities on Siesta Key. There are a number of amenities for residents, including tennis courts and a gulf front clubhouse. Many of the unique homes are situated either on the Gulf of Mexico or on the tidal lagoons. Some of the properties have the lagoon on one side, and the Gulf on the other! Another convenience of living in this neighborhood is the added privacy provided by the natural landscaping. If you are looking for a beach lovers paradise, this is it!

The Sanderling Club

Some of you may be thinking that this type of neighborhood would be uncommon on Siesta Key. It is a common misconception to think all of Siesta Key is a busy village full of shops and bars; the truth is that the southern end of the key is quite the opposite. Don't get me wrong, northern Siesta Key isn't a mad house, but it is a great deal busier than the Sanderling Club area. The drive to get to Turtle Beach, along Midnight Pass, is fantastic. Beginning at Stickney Point Road, the southern end of Midnight Pass Road is covered in shade by trees on either side of the road, with houses hidden in the landscape here and there. You'll notice along the way that there are far more residences than places of business. For shops and restaurants, you must go further south on this end of Siesta Key. One of the best seafood places in this area is Turtles Restaurant, where you can have a enjoy a great view of Little Sarasota Bay while having a nice meal with friends or family. Other attractions in this area include Turtle Beach, Turtle Beach Marina, and Ophelia's Restaurant. This selected neighborhood is one of the many Sarasota real estate options.
